Organizational identification and knowledge sharing behavior: Mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior and moderating role of collectivism and <scp>leader–member</scp> exchange

Abstract This study aims at testing an empirical model that investigates the relationship between organizational identification (OI) and knowledge sharing behavior (KSB). Drawing on social identity theory exchange theory, this examines mediating role of citizenship (OCB) in OI KSB. We also examined how collectivism leader–member (LMX) moderated KSB relationship. Data consisted self‐reported responses employees ( N = 497) leading Pakistani banks. The hypothesized was tested, using PROCESS macros by Hayes. results indicated as a significant predictor OCB fully mediated Moderating turned out to be insignificant However, confirmed moderating LMX linkage. Theoretical managerial implications along with limitations directions for future research are discussed.

Cultural (organizational learning culture) and behavioral (organizational citizenship behaviors) antecedents of knowledge sharing are discussed in the present study. Data was collected from 402 employees of Malaysia. Structural equation model confirms that OLC was positively related to OCB and knowledge sharing. OCB was also found to perform the role of mediator between OLC and knowledge sharing.
